WHO WE ARE
Connecting science, conservation, and community
Northwest Union of Field Stations, commonly known by its spanish acronym, UNEC is a collaborative network that brings together organizations and institutions that manage field stations in northwestern Mexico.
We work jointly to strengthen scientific research, promote biodiversity conservation, and foster community engagement, generating accessible knowledge that contributes to the care of our ecosystems.

MISSION
“To join efforts and amplify the voice of environmental conservation and research in northwestern Mexico through science communication and community participation.”
At UNEC, we consider scientific communication to be essential.
We work to ensure that the discoveries and knowledge generated at our field stations are accessible and understandable to everyone, not just the academic community.
We make sure that knowledge is not limited to academic circles, but is shared with a broader audience, including the general public, policymakers, and other stakeholders.
Collaboration with local communities is essential to the success of our projects.
In addition to informing and educating, we value the importance of listening to and learning from the experiences and knowledge of the people we work with. This two-way communication fosters relationships of respect and trust, strengthening the foundation of our conservation efforts.
Community participation strengthens the relationship between UNEC and communities, creating a framework for mutual cooperation and shared progress toward conservation and sustainable development goals.
Add your voice and become a key pillar for environmental conservation and research in northwestern Mexico.
